What are Essential Oils?

The Therapeutic Value of Essential Oils
Poetically called the "life force" of the plant, essential oils are very complex and concentrated, yet safe and easy to use, with a little common "scents."  Essential oils are extracts from the plant fluids that maintain plant life.  These fluids and resins move through the plant's circulatory system in the leaves, stems, roots, and flowers, carrying nutrition and oxygen into the plant cells and carrying waste products out, just as human blood functions in the body.

Essential Oils Penetrate
Because essential oils are composed of the tiniest of organic molecules, they can pass through cell walls and membranes delivering wellness support, not only to the plants that create them, but to people as well.  A single oil may contain hundreds of constituents that are molecularly aligned in exactly the right manner to help maintain healthy systems and functions of the body.

Essential Oils are Aromatic
Fragrance is the substance of memories. It consists of volatile molecules that float in the air. Millions of olfactory receptor cells line the nose.  Aroma may encourage proper healthy nerve function that sends messages to the limbic area of the brain.  Because the limbic system (associated with memory and emotion) is directly connected to those parts of the brain that control the heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, stress levels and hormone balance, essential oils may supply a variety of health benefits when simply inhaled.

Purchasing Therapeutic Grade Oils
In order to experience possibilities with essential oils, one must be certain that the oils are genuine, grown organically, distilled properly, and bottled undiluted, unadulterated, and unchanged from their natural state.

Most essential oils available are food or fragrance grade which are not necessarily organically grown, are often extracted with chemical solvents, may contain synthetic components, and/or have been denatured, refined or diluted. Such oils do not contribute to wellbeing.

I choose Young Living Essential Oils, Inc., (YLEO) as being a reliable source of high quality essential oils.
